Jim's not a huge fan of small town Ontario. Though it occasionally has its charms, all too often the towns look unplanned, run-down, tired, conservative, stagnant, and without joy. Take Washago, the closest town to here. No offense to anyone who lives there but... If you're staying here at Port Stanton you have to go to Washago for the closest LCBO or, in my case last night, a meeting at the local church (though I had the night wrong). Otherwise, there are two places to be buy ice cream, four variety stores, a diner at the gas station, a post office, and the Lions club. Oh, and a hotel and a b&b.
Oh, and this is the town where they arrested the posse of Islamist radicals plotting to unleash some nastiness in Toronto last year. If you've ever been to Washago, you'll realize that these lads should at least have gone to jail for being morons, imagining that they wouldn't stick out like sore thumbs in this sleepy Petticoat Junction train stop of a town.
Well, I got a nice shot of Shellie last night in any case.
